What is the Senior Ministry of Saddleback Church?

The Senior Ministry of Saddleback Church has as its mission/purpose:

To communicate and share God’s love to those in the church family, and to those outside the church. The assumption behind this ministry, including the groups and the activities sponsored by this ministry, is that it exists for the purpose of serving, not being served; of giving, not receiving.

In the pursuit of this purpose the ministry will incorporate the five purpose areas of Saddleback Church and will create a “Senior Awareness” about the value, the need for, and the role of senior adults in the church. Seniors in general should be seen as assets not liabilities, as givers not consumers, and as targets for the church’s evangelistic outreach.

SENIOR MINISTRY OPPORTUNITIES & SMALL GROUP CONNECTION: CALL (949) 609-8411,  EXT. 7160 OR E-MAIL RON AT RonF@Saddleback.net.

An awareness of the value of seniors will be built by:

• Evangelizing and assimilating unchurched adults.

• Involving adults in meaningful ministry and service.

• Facilitating the growth of adults toward Christian maturity and discipleship.

• Providing fellowship opportunities for adults.

• Establishing a prayer team to pray for special needs, and encouraging members to have a daily quiet time and to participate in other forms of worship, including the weekly worship services.

Senior Awareness will be developed and promoted from the pulpit, the ministry newsletter, appointments to leadership positions, events focusing on Seniors, and through special recognition.
