We are thrilled that you are considering creating your own Local Opportunity to express LOVE to the people in or around your community! God has strategically placed you and your small group in a specific
community and desires to use you to express his love in simple but powerful ways. We have given you four easy steps to help you plan an outreach of LOVE:
Identify the Need. Take some time to consider the immediate needs of your community, or other individuals or groups of people that you have a connection to in your life. The need for your LOVE may be found in a family, a school, a neighborhood, a workplace, and many other places.
Plan the LOVE. Make sure you focus on an idea that is simple and doable with the resources that you and/or your small group have. Remember – this is your outreach and God will use you with your resources,
skills, and gifts to make an unbelievable difference.
Here are some examples to help you get started:
- Clean up a park or local common area in a nearby neighborhood.
- Help a single mom have a day off by caring for her children.
- Clean the home or do yard work for a family who is going through a difficult time.
- Do grocery shopping for a working single mom or family in need.
- Wash the cars of several of your neighbors as an act of love.
- Take someone from another culture out to lunch; listen and learn about their culture and life.
- Visit people in the hospital (ask who never gets visits). CHOC often needs volunteers to rock babies.
- Stand outside a grocery store and load people’s groceries into their cars.
- Hand out free bottles of water on a bike trail.
- Wash people’s windows at a gas station.

Share the LOVE – complete your outreach while making a constant effort to connect personally with those that you are serving, then celebrate what God has done in and through your group.
