Guitarists Into God (GIG) is a ministry that started 13 years ago as a group of folks who enjoyed strumming guitars and wanted to improve their skills while enjoying the fellowship of other Christian players. At that time, we were sort of a guitar club.

Years later, Saddleback Church began a major small groups ministry in homes. Pastor Brett Eastman spoke at our men’s conference about this, and what we then called “Guitar Workshop” officially became known as GIG. Our new focus was to form groups to go out to these homes and lead worship.

Later we were asked to serve at on-campus Bible studies, elderly care homes, and many other places – and to provide worship for start-up churches. Many of our participants now lead music for venues at our church or in other areas in the community and beyond. Even when members move on, we stay in touch and help one another as a Christian network of family and friends.

Over time we’ve found that many players are also talented songwriters, so we joined with the Songcrafters Ministry to begin working together on writing projects.

We’ve produced two Christmas CDs and one compilation of songs. Most recently, we put together a new compilation for the 2007 Worship Conference & Festival. The latest direction of Songcrafters is “This Day’s Song,” an audio podcast which can be found on iTunes.

Our weekly meetings are held on Tuesday nights from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in Room 405.

We go over worship songs, tips for worship and playing, ministry opportunities, and much more.  If you are a singer, or play another instrument such as bass guitar or percussion, we also have opportunities many times for you to connect with others to form small groups to go out and serve.
