SET Meetings
We welcome you to become part of SET! Attendance at our monthly SET meetings is an essential part of SET membership. Meetings are in addition to rehearsals, practices, and performances.
Drama Team members, CORE members, and some Production Team members are required to attend SET meetings. Persons not able to attend a meeting can make up their absence by attending the Saddleback Improv Program (SIP) class. Two SIP attendances are required to makeup for each SET meeting missed.
SET meetings are usually held on the second Tuesday of every month.
Groups within SET:
The Drama Team
This is an auditioned group that performs at all SET projects. It includes actors who have successfully completed the audition process, have completed at least Class 101, and who regularly attend and call Saddleback their home church. When joining the Drama Team, members must make a four-month commitment to attend monthly SET meetings. For more information on the Drama Team, contact Jeremy Barnes at jeremybarnes@cox.net.
SNAP (Short Notice Actor Productions)
This group of actors is selected from the Drama Team for their ability to perform with little or no rehearsal and preparation time. SNAP members perform at any event that has a short lead time (less than one week). Additionally, SNAP members are exclusively used for weekend service performances in the Worship Center. SNAP members have the same attendance, commitment, and class requirements as the Drama Team. For more information on SNAP, contact Jeremy Barnes at jeremybarnes@cox.net.
CORE group of shepherd leaders whose ministerial and professional experience guides SET as well as coordinates all of SET’s projects. CORE members are chosen by the production director and are required to sign a four-month commitment. CORE members must have completed classes 101 through 401, and they must regularly attend (and call as their church home) Saddleback Church. The CORE group meets on an as-needed basis.
SIP (Saddleback Improv Program)
This weekly class is open to anyone. SIP uses comedy improv to teach confidence and essential performance skills. SIP has no attendance requirements, but SIP attendance can be used as a substitute for SET meeting attendance. SIP meets every Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. in Room 401. For more information on SIP, contact Jeremy Barnes at jeremybarnes@cox.net.
SCIT (Saddleback Church Improv Troupe)
This group is selected from the SIP class and performs improv at a variety of venues. For more information on the SCIT, contact Jeremy Barnes at jeremybarnes@cox.net.
Production Group
This group is made up of directors, producers, stage managers, etc. Attendance and membership requirements vary depending on the role of the person. Producers and directors must complete an apprentice process in order to produce or direct a project solo. Depending on the scope or needs of a project, a director, producer, or other crew member will be assigned to each project from this group. For more information on the Production Group, contact Shawn King at shawnk@saddleback.net.
Scriptcrafters
The writers group is open to anyone who regularly attends (and calls as their church home) Saddleback Church. Members of the writers group cannot be given specific assignments until they have completed at least Class 101, and have been approved by the creative director and/or Leadership Team. For more information on the Writers Group, contact Jeremy Barnes at jeremybarnes@cox.net.
Video Actors
The video actors make themselves available on an as-needed basis. Their headshots and resumes are available in the “book” and directors from the TV/Video Ministry will contact them through the SET to determine availability. For more information, please contact Jorge Ordonez and Erika Miller at ordonezjorge@hotmail.com.
