Hosting an intern is one of the most invaluable experiences you will have. The opportunity to be part of the growth and development of a future pastor is an exciting experience that you will be blessed to be part of.
Here is what we require:
- Host home families must have completed our church membership CLASS 101 and are members of our church family.
- Host Homes must provide a room with a bed and space in the closet. This is the minimum we ask you to provide. We ask that their room is their own space (so, not a shared room, or converted into another room during the day), this is to ensure that they have a space where they can truly relax.
- The intern would also need access to a bathroom. A personal bathroom is preferred, but a shared bathroom with the same sex is just fine. We ask that they be given a drawer and/or a cupboard for their own toiletries.
- A Host Home must give access to groceries. Interns have varied schedules, so the host home is not asked to do anything different from their normal meal schedule/routine. We ask that you provide enough groceries so that the intern can help him/herself to fix their own meals to fit with their schedule. Of course, if you love to cook, the intern certainly wouldn’t mind that either.
- The intern must have access to laundry machines and supplies. Like groceries, the intern would need to have access to laundry supplies as well. The host home is NOT expected to do an intern’s laundry. The intern is an adult and is responsible for their own laundry.
- The intern must have access to all the utilities. Our interns will NOT use your telephone for any long distance phones calls, but they need access to all the utilities, just as any other member of the family. In other words please do not expect any financial contribution.
- The Host Home must commit to 6 months to house the intern. If a Host Home would like to exceed the 6 month minimum, that is between them and the intern (and of course that’s great!)
